Today, profile flooring is in the highest demand on the building materials market. Simply put, corrugated board, or metal profile. The scope of this material is amazingly wide. It is used as a roofing material, for the construction of external fences, partitions, fixed formwork. Today we will talk about how corrugated board is painted.
Customers are offered a variety of types of corrugated board with different metal thicknesses and sheet sizes. The profiled sheet is produced from cold-rolled galvanized steel and covered with a polymer coating, thus ensuring its durability.
as a cover corrugated roofing plastisol, PVDF, pural and others act. And, among other things, the corrugated board can be painted.
So how is painting done? Let's try to answer this question.
In world practice, the following painting methods are used:
- airless,
- pneumatic,
- combined
- electrostatic
World standards take into account such parameters as the quality of the coating do-it-yourself corrugated roofing, cost-effectiveness of paint application and productivity. And now more about the methods of painting.
Airless painting technology consists in a sharp decrease in pressure when the flow of paint material exits a special nozzle under pressure.
Air when using this method is a kind of brake, which reduces the flow rate of the aerosol and helps it evenly fall on the surface to be painted.
The advantages of the airless method include:
- almost complete absence of colorful fog;
- high percentage of painting performance.
However, there is also a significant drawback: the quality of the decorative surface is several times worse than when using pneumatic spraying. Therefore, in this way, areas of a flat shape are painted.
When using pneumatic spraying, compressed air is used. The painting torch itself consists of an aerosol. The quality of painting in this way depends on
- torch shape;
- the ratio of air to the paintwork material on the area of the spot;
- speed and type of flow of paint particles.
However, the method of pneumatic spraying is not economical due to the formation of a large amount of paint mist. Consequently, there is a loss of paintwork material, it becomes necessary to use powerful hoods.
Combined method. The essence of the technology is that the movement of the paintwork material and the formation of the torch is carried out under the influence of pressure.
The result is a very similar flow from the nozzle as when using airless equipment. Due to the arrangement of the atomizer head, under the influence of compressed air, an additional atomization of the particle flow occurs and a more perfect torch is formed.
The advantage of this technology: obtaining optimal production parameters, despite the complexity of such painting equipment.
The basis of electrostatic spray technology is the ability of paint particles to acquire an electrostatic charge, due to which the particles move in the direction of the electric field lines that form between the surface and the spray gun head.
This is the most economical way to obtain paintwork surfaces. With many advantages of the method, there is also a disadvantage - the impossibility of painting the surface of a material with a complicated relief: depressions in the surface, sharp edges of the sheet, etc.
Powder coating of corrugated board has now gained wide popularity. Using this method, it is possible to obtain surfaces with varying degrees of gloss and relief.
The powder coating method is the most modern method of applying a decorative and protective coating. Currently, there are no analogues of this technology in the construction services market.

The uniqueness of powder paint lies in the fact that there is no solvent in its composition. Powder is a mixture of pigment particles and rubber.
How is coloring done? The technical process of painting corrugated board:
- Sheet surface preparation, i.e.training, degreasing, formation of a phosphate film.
- Application of paint-powder to the cleaned surface of the product, due to which the smallest particles of paint adhere tightly to the surface.
- Polymerization (uniform baking of the powder in a special oven at a temperature of about 200º C for 10-15 minutes).
Color selection is carried out according to the PAL scale, i.e. the choice of color is practically unlimited. Customers are given a unique opportunity to choose the color of the profiled sheet on an individual order.
Advantages of painting roofing sheeting:
- durability of use;
- strength;
- anti-corrosion protection;
- environmental safety - the absence of flammable and toxic solvents in the paint;
- aesthetics;
- excellent tolerance to sudden changes in temperature (from -60 ° C to +150 ° C).
How to paint corrugated board? For painting products made of galvanized steel, high-quality polyester paints (for outdoor use) and epoxy-polyester paints (for indoor use) of foreign manufacturers are used.
Mostly these are paints of Italian, German, French manufacturers.

It is no secret to anyone that nothing is eternal in nature. During installation or transportation of corrugated board, scratches, scuffs or chips may form. This, of course, affects the appearance of the product, and also reduces the anti-corrosion properties of the metal.
To eliminate the damage received, it is recommended to use special sprays for touching up metal.
Paint for corrugated board - alkyd enamel. The color scheme of the contents of the cylinders absolutely corresponds to the color of the metal with a polymer coating.
Alkyd enamel has a huge advantage over other paints for metal.
It is resistant to environmental influences (ultraviolet radiation of the Sun, rain, snow, hail). Also, enamel is characterized by increased resistance to daily and seasonal temperature changes. The main requirements for painting are dryness and cleanliness of the surface.
A wide range of colors and shades of paints for corrugated board allows customers to implement different ideas, giving even ordinary buildings an aesthetic and unusual appearance.
