How to mount Unikma metal tile?
Roof made of standard metal tiles can be installed with a slope of about 15-20%. Before you place an order for roofing material, you need to perform a thorough measurement of the roof in order to clarify the size of the required sheets.
This size is affected by the distance between the roof eaves and its ridge.
Advice! When measuring the slope, it should be taken into account that the protrusion of the metal tile sheet should not exceed 40 mm. Otherwise, under the influence of wind, the sheet may be deformed.
A few mounting tips:
- roof lathing under the metal tile Unikma is made of boards that must first be coated with an antiseptic solution. The size of the board and the step of the crate, as a rule, is determined by the project. The board that goes to the eaves should be 15 mm higher than the others. The crate under the metal tile is mounted on top of the waterproofing layer, which is freely (without tension) placed on the rafters. This ensures ventilation of the space between the metal tile sheet and the waterproofing layer.
- The metal tile is attached to the crate using self-tapping screws, which are completed with washers. Self-tapping screws must have an octagonal head and be painted in the color of the metal sheet.
- For each square meter of coverage, there are seven self-tapping screws; along the edge, the sheet is fixed through one profile wave.
- Installation starts from the end side (on a gable roof) or from the highest point (on hipped roofs).
- Mounting begins with the fact that three or four sheets are fixed on the ridge. Then they are carefully aligned with the cornice and finally strengthened.
- Sheet cutting can be done using metal shears or power tools.
Advice! All places of chips and cuts are treated with paint to prevent corrosion of the sheets.
- The overlap between two sheets must be 200 mm. At the installation sites of the valleys, sheets without relief are used, having a width of 1.25 meters. These sheets are attached to a continuous crate with galvanized nails.
- After all the sheets of the Unikma metal tile are installed, the decorative strip is fixed using the same self-tapping screws with a pitch of 200 mm. The plank covers the end of the extreme sheet of metal.

- The side overlap of the sheet should be half the width of the wave. If the roof is flat (slope less than 10%), then it is better to increase the width of the overlap.
- For fixing sheets of corrugated board, self-tapping screws are used, which are screwed into the space between the waves. Per square meter of profiled sheet, 6 self-tapping screws are required.
Advice! The chips formed from screwing in the screws must be removed immediately, otherwise they will begin to rust and spoil the appearance of the roof.
- The slab at the eaves is laid with an overlap or cut to size. This section is covered with an end plate, which should completely cover the first wave of corrugated board.
- A ridge element with an overlap of at least 100 mm wide is mounted on the ridge.
- At the junction, a bar is placed, under which a sealant is placed.
