Preparatory work

We make a crate

Further, the installation of a roof made of metal tiles continues with the design of the wind and ridge trims. Then you can proceed to attach the drainage system around the perimeter of the roof.
For gutters, brackets are installed on the lower crate board at a distance of about 50 cm from each other, taking into account the future slight slope of the gutters for water drainage. Gutters are attached to the brackets and the cornice strip is installed on the crate.
Waterproofing and insulation
After the crate is ready, it is necessary to arrange a waterproofing and insulating layers. First, it is desirable to lay a layer of vapor barrier film.
It will protect the subsequent insulation layer from steam coming from inside the building. At the seams, the film is fastened with a special tape, which will make the joints strong and airtight.

Its parts are joined overlapping with a small margin, then the finished flooring is finally fixed with a counter-lattice, and at the highest point of the roof - with a ridge.
One of the advantages of insulation, which is laid on the roof under the coating, is its soundproofing properties.
During its installation, additional noise insulation of the roof made of metal tiles is also achieved, which is important in places with a high level of unwanted sounds. For buildings close to the road, airport, railway tracks, additional roof protection will come in handy.
For heated premises, it is imperative to lay the insulating layers in the correct sequence. In the case of installation of roofing for utility and other non-residential premises where heating is not provided, only a layer of waterproofing can be laid.
Cutting and installation of tiles
Before the roofing of the roof with metal tiles begins, it is necessary to measure all the dimensions of the prepared roof - from the ridge to the eaves.
With complex geometry and the presence of a large number of protrusions, drops, turrets and other things, all the nuances are taken into account when cutting the coating elements. Cut the sheets of tiles in the necessary places with special cutting scissors.
It is forbidden to use abrasive cutters, as such machines overheat the sheets during cutting and destroy the protective coating on them.
When the preparation of the roof for the metal tile is fully completed, the installation of sheets can begin. If the roof is gable, work begins from the end of the left side, on a tent-type roof - from the highest place, moving evenly in both directions.
When the sheets are stacked from right to left, then each subsequent sheet is placed under the edge of the previous one. The edges of the last sheets are set below the eaves by 4-5 cm.
In order for the metal tile roof structure to be correct and durable, the laying order is as follows: the first sheet is reinforced with a self-tapping screw to the crate, in a place near the ridge.
Next, you need to lay the second sheet in such a way that its lower edges form a straight line.
With the help of a screw, you should fasten the overlap along the top of the wave under the very first fold that runs across. In this case, the screw should not touch the crate.
If it seemed that the sheets were not joined evenly, you should lift the top sheet, and then lay the folds in sequence from bottom to top on top of each other, fastening with screws.
At the same time, make sure that the screws of the crate do not touch. Screws or self-tapping screws will be required for each square meter of coverage from 6 to 8 pieces.
After fastening 3-4 sheets to each other, the lowest edge should be aligned exactly with the eaves, after which the sheets can be fixed completely.
When installing, make sure that the sheets are minimally deformed and scratched. Wear soft shoes, do not put heavy objects on the roof to avoid damage to the material.
If chips or scratches on the metal tile are still present, you can restore them with paint intended for this kind of repair.
Additional roof protection
A roof covered with metal is not immune from lightning strikes. This can lead to quite a lot of trouble if you do not protect it from the undesirable effects of the natural elements.
