The term "adjustable canopies" is usually understood as either a folding canopy for giving, or a special kitchen bracket that makes it easy to align wall-mounted cabinets vertically and horizontally.
To avoid confusion, and you have no questions about this, below we will consider both varieties.
Mobile rain and sun protection
An adjustable universal canopy today can be found in almost any equipped summer cottage.It is a movable structure that is mounted on the wall of the house (usually at the entrance or above the terrace). (See also article Country awnings: features.)
As a rule, the main elements of such a product are:
- Roller, inside of which the roofing sheet is placed. Most models are equipped with canvases made of tarpaulin or polymer fabric: the main thing is that the material is waterproof.

If possible, choose tarpaulin sheets or models of their jute fiber with moisture-proof impregnation.
In terms of water resistance, they are not inferior to polymer ones, but in the heat they heat up much less.
The only drawback of such varieties is the rather high price.
- Sliding frame, which is a steel or plastic frame on hinges. When folded, the frame is pressed against the upper part of the wall, and when unfolded, it is the basis for a stretched canvas, which is automatically unwound from the roller shutter.
- Some models are also equipped with support poles. These pillars support the far edge of the frame, which protects the hinges from breaking under the weight of the structure, and the canvas from sagging.
The advantages of such products include compact size, ease of use and fairly easy installation. The instruction usually assumes wall fixation for 4 - 8 anchors.
As for the shortcomings, they include the high cost of high-quality models. In principle, you can try to make such a product with your own hands, but the details (roller shutters, hinges, fabric) will cost a lot, so it’s unlikely to save money.
However, even despite not the lowest cost, designs of this type are popular.
Adjustable mount
Design features
And yet, when we mention adjustable canopies, we often mean a special bracket for a cabinet or other furniture.
As a rule, such a system consists of two elements:
- Steel rail fixed on the wall. The upper edge of the tire is equipped with a specially shaped hook, which provides a secure fixation of the hinged hook.
- An adjustment hook with a hook that is mounted inside the kitchen cabinet. Thanks to the screw system located in the plastic housing, we can correct the position of the hung item after it has been installed.

Today, brackets are produced in a fairly extensive range of colors, which allows you to choose a model that is almost invisible inside the cabinet.
Despite the rather complex design, the adjustable bracket provides a very secure fixing of even the heaviest object. Naturally, in this case, it is necessary to perform the installation correctly, and how this can be done, we will describe below.
Mounting technology
Before attaching the kitchen hanging set using adjustable brackets, it is necessary to mark the wall. We do this in such a way that the lower edge of the wall cabinets is no closer than 45 - 50 cm above the countertop, otherwise it will be very inconvenient for us to work. Let's proceed directly to the installation:
- First, according to the markings on the wall, we fix the steel mounting rail.For fixing, we use anchors with a thickness of 8 mm, fixing them at a distance of about 30 cm from each other.

The tire should be attached only to the capital structure.
If you covered the walls of the kitchen with drywall, then under the hanging furniture you need to mount mortgages from a thick wooden beam rigidly fixed to the wall.
It is impossible to simply install a tire on a gypsum board: the material will not withstand the load and will collapse.
- When the tire is fixed, we proceed to the installation of suspensions. We attach plastic cases to the cabinets from the inside using self-tapping screws. This operation must be performed as carefully as possible, since this node, according to experts, is the weakest point of the entire system.
- For fixing, it is best to use wood screws with a phosphated surface. The length of the self-tapping screw must provide a penetration into the cabinet wall of at least 8 mm.
- Hanging hooks are brought out into the holes on the back wall of the cabinet. It is most convenient to make them with a drill with a large drill, but it is fashionable to use a jigsaw and even a mounting knife (if the wall is made of thin plywood or chipboard).
- After that, we hang the locker on the rail, making sure that both hooks engage with the mounting ledge.
At the final stage of work, we carry out adjustment: by turning the screws on the suspensions with a screwdriver, we align the cabinets relative to each other so that the gaps between them are minimal.

To increase the safety of installation, adjacent kitchen modules can be connected with steel strip ties.
So the weight will be distributed more evenly, and the risk that any hook will straighten up or fall out of the mount will be minimal.

As you can see, you can mount furniture adjustable canopies without the slightest effort. However, in many respects this also applies to external visors, which allow you to fold and open the frame with the canvas only when necessary: their design also involves an extremely simple installation.
