Trying to create an interior in eclectic style, it is worth understanding two things: you need to combine incongruous and do it elegantly and tastefully. Such a design includes two or even more heterogeneous styles, sometimes even diametrically opposed, for example, classic and modern. At the same time, such a “hodgepodge” should look as organic as possible, so that others would have no doubt that everything was so refined, original and was conceived.
eclectic colors
Trying to design a room in this style, you need to harmonize different styles as much as possible. A good solution would be to choose a neutral color background of the room that will not "interfere" with other decor elements. Bright accents must also be chosen, combining them with each other in shade. In general, any colors are acceptable in eclecticism.For the base, choose pastel or white shades - these are beige, ivory, cream, and so on. You can dilute these shades with soft blue, pink, gray, burgundy and other more noticeable colors.
It is important to understand that despite the democratic nature of eclecticism, all shades should ideally suit each other, in addition, you should not include more than 5 colors in the interior.
Important! Do not use too sharp contrasts, especially over a large area. This will lead to the fact that the room will not be perceived as a whole, and therefore violate the very principle of eclecticism.
Characteristic features of the style
Eclecticism has the following features:
- It is important to observe strict vertical lines, while the corners themselves can be rounded;
- It is permissible to use gilded frames into which both paintings and mirrors can be inserted;
- Bright carpets, colored pillows, original colored furniture - all this can be used in moderation in eclecticism;
- A good choice for the floor would be parquet;
- As a decor, you can use crystal dishes or chandeliers;
- The most important thing is the organic combination of history and modernity, their logical and natural interweaving.
The difference between eclecticism and other styles is conciseness, limiting the superfluous. This is a very functional design. At the same time, it can be pretentious in trifles, for example, these are vases of the original form or unusual chiseled legs by the sofa.
What details to pay attention to?
A lot of modern eclecticism took from the Art Nouveau style, which was widespread at the beginning of the 20th century. The first and most important thing that she acquired from him was compactness, functionality and conciseness.When choosing furniture and decor, they are guided not by a single style, but by the same or matching shades. Harmonize the result with a neutral background. At the same time, the objects themselves can have a variety of designs.
It is not necessary to think through a cumbersome plan of 1000 little things. Sometimes eclecticism "rests" on one detail, on one little thing, thanks to which, for example, rococo and modern are mixed. It becomes a highlight of the interior and changes the perception of the whole room. The more original and unusual such a thing is woven into the main design, the more successful the whole work can be considered.
