If you think that the most cost-effective lamps are those that consume the least electricity, then this is by no means the case. In fact, it is profitable to buy lamps that are characterized by the lowest operating costs in specific conditions. As we know, progress does not stand still. This applies to both the industrial and household sectors. In particular, we are talking about lighting fixtures. Literally in a century (even less), people have made the journey from a torch to LEDs.
And each step was marked by the emergence of more reliable devices. So, at the end of the 19th century, the world saw an incandescent lamp, and already at the beginning of the 20th century, a lamp emitting daylight appeared. By the end of the twentieth century, LED technologies were born, which became so popular. When a light bulb becomes unusable, everyone thinks about which new one to buy so that the new product combines reliability and an affordable price.
Halogen lamps
The principle of operation of these lamps is based on the glow of a hot filament placed inside the bulb. Their durability is due to halogen vapors. They extend the service life by two to three years. As a rule, bromine or iodine vapors are used. The design of halogen light sources allows them to work with screw cartridges and with pin ones. To make them multifunctional, applicable in different areas, they are made in various forms.
In addition, a coating of reflective particles is applied. Depending on this, the brightness, temperature and light scattering angle may change. Due to their small size and wide variety, halogen lamps were initially used mainly in electronic equipment, ceiling structures and furniture lighting.
Scheme and principle of operation of LED lamps
LED backlighting, based on the work of diodes that emit light, has long been liked by consumers and has found its place. Once it was actively used in the dashboards of cars, as well as in scoreboards for advertising and indicator lights. However, with time and the development of new technologies, they began to be used for lighting rooms. Compared to conventional light bulbs, LED bulbs are safer and more cost effective as they generate much less heat when converted from AC to DC.
The brightness of the light is directly proportional to the strength of the current: the larger it is, the brighter the light will burn.Due to this, LED lamps easily outperform competitors in this area and threaten to displace other types of light sources, according to expert data. It is easy to believe in this, because literally five or six years ago no one even knew about them, and now they are so very popular.
How to choose the right wattage for LED bulbs?
The question arose due to the fact that they need much less energy. The easiest way to calculate is this: divide the power of the old incandescent lamp by 8. For example, if you need to change a 60-watt lamp to an LED one, then 60:8 = 7.5, respectively. That is, you need to take a lamp with a power of 7.5 watts.
