Since ancient times, camel wool has established itself as a high-quality and incredibly warm material for making outerwear. In order for such a product to serve for a long time and not lose its external qualities, it is necessary to adhere to certain rules for washing and general care for a woolen item. Naturally, by giving such clothes to dry cleaning, you don’t have to worry about its condition, but this method is not budgetary and takes a lot of time. Further in the article are reliable and economical ways to clean outerwear and other products made of camel hair.
Washing a wool blanket by hand
One of the most common uses for camel hair is in making blankets.Such a product is particularly light, perfectly retains heat and does not accumulate moisture in itself, it is also noted that such a woolen blanket is the most environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic on the market today.
A lot of people shy away from wool blankets for fear of ruining them in the wash, but here's a simple plan to help keep wool from getting damaged:
- Take half a bath of warm water (about 30 degrees);
- Dissolve in water a product specially designed for washing woolen products;
- Soak the blanket in water for 4-5 hours;
- Rinse thoroughly;
- Hang on a strong rope for dripping.
Important! It is not necessary to wring out the blanket immediately after rinsing, this can lead to its deformation. Light wringing is permissible only after the initial runoff of the liquid.
Washing in the washing machine
When machine washing, the temperature should not exceed 30 degrees. It is also recommended to choose the most delicate mode with long soaks and rinses. It is recommended to skip the spinning phase, but if the conditions do not allow for a quality air-drying of the blanket, it is necessary, after a full machine wash cycle, to lay the product on a horizontal surface, giving it the correct shape and allow to dry in this position. Such manipulations will help to avoid stretching and loss of the original shape.
Partial cleaning of the blanket
There are situations when stains appear on a woolen blanket, with this type of pollution, you should not wash the entire product, it is better to just wash a separate stain. There are many methods for dealing with wool stains, which depend on their type:
- sweet water, ice cream or pastry cream can be washed off with warm water and talcum powder;
- greasy stains are washed with soapy water;
- lipstick, powder or glue is removed from the wool with alcohol;
- a small amount of acetone will remove stains from paint, charcoal or nail polish;
- For more stubborn stains, such as alcohol or coffee stains, there are special stain removers for wool.
Following these tips, even the most inexperienced housewife will be able to preserve the beauty and quality properties of a woolen blanket without labor and material costs.
