What material to choose a shirt from

A shirt is one of the most important parts of any men's wardrobe, with the right model you can create a huge number of images. To make the shirt not only look stylish, but also serve you for more than one season, you need to pay attention to the material from which it is made. In addition to the fabric, there are other details, but still the most important is the material, since the period of wear, texture and many other nuances of the appearance of the shirt depend on it.

What material is best?

Manufacturers use different materials to make shirts. It can be both natural fabrics and synthetic ones. Very often, mixed compositions have recently begun to be used.First of all, such things look better than fully synthetic ones, and secondly, due to synthetic fabrics, they are not as whimsical to care for as from purely natural materials.

Cotton is the most versatile and popular material for making men's shirts. Compared to other natural fabrics, it is much cheaper and there are a huge number of different sizes, colors and prints of cotton shirts on the market. In addition, you can find options of different densities that are suitable for both winter and summer looks. Cotton shirts are versatile for any style.

But, for example, silk shirts are not suitable for every look, but more luxurious and expensive, and the material itself is more expensive. If you choose between a cotton and linen shirt, then it is better to choose the first option. Linen shirts wrinkle very easily, which is not very convenient for everyday looks. They are more pliable when a mixture of synthetic fabric is present in the composition.

Basic sewing materials

As mentioned above, all materials are divided into synthetic and natural. Viscose cannot be clearly attributed to a certain category, since it is made from natural raw materials, but according to its properties it is a synthetic fabric. The most popular materials are:

  • linen;
  • cotton;
  • silk;
  • viscose;
  • elastane;
  • polyester.

Natural materials are more pleasant to the body, as they allow the skin to breathe, so this is just perfect for summer time. Synthetics have always felt inferior to natural materials, especially in the summer heat. Therefore, it is better to choose either completely natural fabrics, or with a small admixture of synthetics.

Silk shirts

These shirts look very elegant and luxurious, but they are very whimsical to care for, and the price cannot be called low. Best of all, they look in business images, as well as images “to go out”, in everyday life they will not be entirely appropriate. Since it is a natural material, it is also breathable and suitable for summer as well.

Cotton shirts

The most popular and versatile option. They are pleasant to the touch, breathable, great even for allergy sufferers, have a cost much lower than other natural materials, but at the same time, care for them is much easier. Polyester and other synthetic materials may also be added during production. This improves the appearance of the fabric and removes creases that can easily form, for example, on linen. Also, synthetics make the material more elastic, which is suitable for making shirts with a fitted silhouette.
