Ondulin - it is also called euroslate. This modern type of roofing material is now increasingly used for roofing. Ondulin today is a serious competitor to asbestos-cement slate, metal and bituminous tiles, corrugated board.

In order to correctly carry out the calculation, it is important to know the size of the ondulin. About it, as well as other characteristics of this material, I will tell you in today's article.

Before installing the coating, you will have to make an accurate calculation of the required amount of material. In this way, you will avoid many problems, for example, differences in the color of the lining from different batches.

Euroslate was developed by the French company Onduline. She has been making it for over 50 years. Now the material is produced all over the world. We also have factories in Russia.

Ondulin is made from natural cellulose - an affordable, inexpensive, environmentally friendly raw material. Ondulin is often called euroslate, but it differs from traditional slate. The main difference between these roofing materials is the safety of ondulin and the absence of asbestos fibers in it. And they are bad for our health.

1. First, cellulose fibers are impregnated with a mixture consisting of a binder (bitumen), fiberglass, mineral fillers and coloring pigments.
2. Further, wavy sheets of slate, 3 mm thick, are formed from the material obtained.

How to calculate the right amount of ondulin?

To calculate the required number of euroslate sheets, you need to know their dimensions. In ondulin, the area of ​​\u200b\u200bone sheet measuring 95 × 200 cm is 1.9 m².

First of all, when calculating, you need to determine the area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe roof. If it happens when designing a building, then you can calculate the surface of the roof using its projection. A small guide on how to do this.

Here school knowledge in geometry will come to your aid:

1. If the slopes have a complex shape, break their surface into geometric shapes (triangles and trapezoids).
2. Using geometric formulas, calculate the area of ​​each plot.
3. Please note that the roof will have a given slope. Therefore, when calculating, take into account the angle of inclination of each geometric figure.
4. Sum up all the numbers. So you will know the area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe roof.

The simplest case is when the roof projection is a rectangle and the slopes are inclined by 30°. Then the roof area can be determined by multiplying the area of ​​the rectangle by the cosine of the slope angle.

When calculating ondulin, keep in mind such nuances:

1. Determine the area of ​​the roof not along the edges of the walls, but along the overhangs of the cornices.
2. When constructing a roof with a different slope of the slopes, make laps of various sizes. In most cases, they are from 15 cm or more.
3. The usable area of ​​euroslate depends on the slope of the slopes and can be 1.6; 1.5; 1.3 m². When the slope of the roof is up to 10 °, then the size of the overlap along the continuous crate should be 30 cm. If the slope angle of the slopes exceeds 15 °, then the overlap should be 15–20 cm.
4. When calculating the required amount of euroslate, considerthat overlaps reduce the width and length of the material (useful sheet area).

6. The useful size of the sheets is 1.90 m². On a flat roof, the overlap "eats" up to 30 cm from all sides. Therefore, the net width of the sheet will be already 86 cm, and the length - 185 cm. Therefore, the usable area will decrease from 1.90 to 1.6 m 2. Because of this, you will have to buy more ondulin.
7. Taking into account all the moments on a simple roof, you will have to add 10% of the stock to the calculated amount of ondulin. If there are many corners and/or transitions on the roof, the margin should be 20%.
