In addition, this material has another important parameter, unlike traditional slate. It does not contain harmful substances, which is very important in the arrangement of residential buildings.

Lightweight Ondulin - the roof of it weighs only 3 kg per 1 m2, very convenient for repair. This fact allows repairing the old roof without removing the old coating, which significantly reduces the amount of work performed.

The standard warranty period for this material is 15 years, but the actual operating time is up to 50 years, and in normal use even no repairs are required.

A variety of roofing materials are used for roofs - Ondulin has a number of advantages over other roofs:

  • light weight (significantly less than analogues);
  • long service life of the roof without the need for repair work (wear resistance);
  • no accumulation of condensate on euroslate;
  • no noise even during heavy rain (soundproofing);

Brief instructions for self-assembly of the roof

Before starting work, it is necessary to calculate the roof from ondulin, estimate the number of sheets and other material. When calculating, it is necessary to take into account the margin for overlap and offset rows.

Advice. In addition, it is necessary to lay a margin in case of errors in work.

Euroslate is very easy to attach to almost any roof, even those that have a large slope.

Strictly following the instructions below, you will be able to independently perform the entire range of work.

To perform the installation of this roof does not require special skills and abilities, it is enough to accurately follow the instructions:

  • For small roof slopes (from 5° to 10°), the instructions for laying the roof require a solid OSB batten, plywood or board. Overlap at end: 30 cm, overlap at sides: 2 waves.
  • If the slope of the roof varies within 10-15 °, then laying is carried out on the crate in compliance with the interval of 45 cm along the axes. Overlap at the end in this case: 20 cm, overlap on the sides: 1 wave.
  • At large roof pitch angles (from 15 ° and more), the installation of an ondulin roof requires a crate with an interval of 60 cm. Overlap at the end: 17 cm, overlap on the sides: 1 wave.
  • The battens must be evenly attached to the rafters. The use of wooden templates is recommended to maintain laying accuracy and parallelism with respect to the eaves.

Advice. It is recommended to mark sheets with a colored pencil. In this case, it is convenient to use a sheet cut to work with wavy surfaces.

Cutting the sheet according to the markup
  • In order to accurately cut the sheets, we recommend using a wood saw, but it must first be lubricated with oil. It is also possible to use an electric saw or a circular saw.
  • Since the weight of this roof material very small, all the work can be done by one person.
  • In order to facilitate the laying process, it is worth starting to lay the second row of sheets from half of the sheet of the previous row. Thus, at the corner joint, it will be necessary to work with 3 rather than 4 sheets, which will make the whole process much easier.
  • When laying sheets, nail them at the end of each wave, as well as in places of overlap. It is also necessary to attach sheets to every second bar of the crate. According to factory technology, each sheet must be fastened with at least 20 nails.
  • In order for the fastening and installation of the sheets to take place exactly along the line of the beam, we recommend using a stretched rope.
  • Fastening of ridge elements on the roof should be carried out with an overlap of 12.5 cm, starting from the side of the roof that is currently less exposed to wind. Ridge elements must be attached to each wave, which is joined to the bars of the sheathing sheets.
  • Use special Ondulin valleys for the design and installation of valleys, and additional crates are required.
  • Gable or ridge elements from this manufacturer are used for the installation and subsequent design of the gable and roof slope rib. You can bend and attach the edge of the sheet to the gable part of the purlin, but this operation is recommended only at temperatures above freezing.
  • The junction of the vertical wall and the side of the roof is made using the installation of the valley mentioned earlier, while it is imperative to equip reliable waterproofing.
  • The covering apron from Ondulin should be applied at the junction of the vertical wall and the end of the roof, while it is recommended to treat it with waterproofing mastic. Apron fastening is carried out on each wave.
  • When equipping a roof window, it is recommended to position the top sheet in such a way that it has a significant overlap over the base of this window.
  • A special cornice filler from the manufacturer is used to hermetically remove the gap between the ridge element and sheets of material, as well as to remove the gap between individual roof sheets. The use of this composition may be prohibited by ventilation requirements!
  • To install a ventilation pipe, it should be by fixing it at each junction with the sheets located in this place, the top sheet is overlapped over the base of the pipe.
  • When using a metal crate, use roofing screws.

Advice. Ondufschle insulating self-adhesive tapes will make it easier for you to waterproof the roof cornice, the joint between the roof covering and the furnace pipe or any other superstructure on the roof, and will also come in handy during the installation or subsequent repair of the roof valley.
