Before you start installing the drainage system with your own hands, you need to decide on the material for it:

- plastic.
A cheaper option is a galvanized steel system, which in most cases is used by housing and communal organizations. As a result of frequent clearing of the roof from snow, ice and icicles, the galvanized system is subject to violations.
So, if you cannot equip the heating system and will use scrap to clear it, then galvanized steel is a more economical budget option in terms of replacement.
In private construction, a galvanized gutter system is rarely found. Basically, for her take:
- plastic;
- painted metal;
- polymer-coated metal elements.
A copper gutter gives a special charm to the house, but it is usually used on copper roofs in elite construction.
The metal system with a polymer coating is selected taking into account the tone of the roof or facade. Such a system is not afraid of frost, but you should pay attention that it creates noise.
A metal drain is installed on houses with a metal roof. In the event that the roof is covered with flexible tiles, it is better to use a PVC system.

Gutter type

- For the correct manufacture of a funnel, it is necessary to cut three parts from a sheet of iron: a rim, a cone, a glass. When manufacturing, make sure that the diameter of the rim matches the diameter of the side of the cone to be connected. The diameter of the bottom of the glass must match the diameter of the drainpipe. Parts of the funnel and the funnel itself with the pipe are connected with a seam seam;
- There are no special rules for the manufacture of plums. Usually, it is an obliquely cut pipe attached to a drainpipe at an angle.
Attention. If the downpipe will consist of several elements, then to connect them, one side of the link must be narrowed by 5 mm. To limit the deep entry of the parts, protrusions of 7 mm are made at the ends of the links.
Gutter installation
The fact that parts for the gutter system can be made independently or shaped parts can be purchased is understandable, but how to make a gutter so that it functions correctly?
It is necessary to install the drainage system so that the drained water does not seep under the base of the house. Building codes require it to be removed from the walls of the house and the downpipe by 1.5 m.
To do this, many builders build a pipe segment 2 m long, 10 cm in diameter to the drain and bury it in the ground. If the 2-meter distance from the house goes up, then the wastewater can return and moisten the foundation.

- Gutter installation. The functioning of the entire system depends on the correct installation of the gutter. The outer edge of the gutter must be below 25mm from the roof plane. The gutter is placed in the bracket, the joints will be connected to the lock using sealant. Laying starts from the funnel.In a plastic system, the gutter can be adjusted to the required size using a grinder or a hacksaw.

- In order for water from the under-roof space to be directed to the gutter, you can install a dripper, which is attached to the rafter leg and lowers 2 cm into the gutter. If necessary, bypass the corner relief of the house, corner elements are fixed to the gutter. A special glue is used to attach the plug to the gutter.

- Funnel installation. In places where the funnel is installed, it is necessary to make oblique cuts. Glue is applied along the perimeter of the inner surface of the funnel, and the edge of the funnel is attached to the rear and front edges of the gutter.

- Pipe installation. To connect the pipes to each other and fasten them to the funnel, special clamps are used. A gap of 2 cm is left between the parts of the pipes.
Attention. When installing downpipes, glue is not used.
