The surface of most metals from which dishes are made begins to become covered with oxides during heating, the appearance of which is promoted by high temperature and oxygen in the atmosphere. They cover the surface of the pan with a thin and durable layer. The gas that is used in the gas stove emits soot when burned, food forms black soot when frying. If these phenomena are not removed immediately after cooking, then the pollution will only thicken, gradually turning into a porous black crust.

How to clean the outside of a frying pan
It's safe to say that soot pans can be found in every kitchen. However, very few people know how to remove this unpleasant formation.Therefore, as a rule, cast-iron pans look much cleaner on the inside than on the outside. Problems are also added by the fact that carbon deposits, regularly exposed to high temperatures, become durable and it is almost impossible to remove it by simple washing. But, you should not despair, the moment of parting with your favorite pan has not yet come.

Roasting on fire
Fire as a means of purification. There is a way that our great-grandmothers cleaned cast-iron pans. It consists in heating the pan to a high temperature. To do this, you can use various methods. The simplest of them is heating dishes on a conventional gas burner. Important: at the same time, the windows in the kitchen must be kept open, since the greasy coating, exposed to high temperatures, begins to emit a strong and unpleasant odor. A more acceptable option is to heat a frying pan on a fire in the yard, if possible.

And the best way is to use a gas burner. It is necessary to install the pan in such a place and on such a stand so as not to burn yourself and protect other people from injury and evenly heat it with a burning gas jet. Attention: if the pan has a wooden handle, you must act very carefully so that it does not ignite. In the case when there are no suitable conditions for this operation, it is better to refuse it. By the way, our grandmothers, after heating the pan, threw it into the snow. They say it helped, but in this case there is a possibility that the pan will simply burst.

Boiling
You can also clean carbon deposits and boil:
- boiling in soapy water.Laundry soap is dissolved in a basin in water, half a pack of soda and half a glass of silicate glue are added. Water is heated to a boil and placed in a pan. Boil the dishes for two hours or more until the result is obtained;
- put the pan on the fire and pour vinegar and salt with soda into it. When the solution boils, they wash the outside of the pan with a stiff brush;
- the outer part of the pan is washed with activated charcoal. It is ground into powder and poured onto the contaminated part of the pan. Wait 30 minutes and brush with detergent.

Citric acid is diluted in water in the amount of a liter. Pour the mixture into a basin and lower the pan there. The basin is put on fire and the mixture is brought to a boil. Wait for the liquid to cool, then wash the pan with abrasive powder and a brush.
