Parquet is a stylish and elite floor covering. Not all houses and apartments use it, because in addition to excellent aesthetic properties, this material is expensive and difficult to care for. This flooring is not suitable for all rooms. For example, it is not recommended to use it in the kitchen, toilet and bathroom. If you violate the tips for processing the material, you can notice its rapid wear.
Types of parquet and care
There are two main types of parquet boards - varnished or oiled. Of course, they have different specifics and features of care. Let's consider each of them separately:
- Lacquered parquet - it is not recommended to carry out wet cleaning here. Instead, regular sweeping and vacuuming is the right solution. If local pollution is present, then they are eliminated by specialized means.For prevention, you need to install felt pads on the legs of tables, chairs, sofas or other furniture. Then it will be possible to prevent damage to the material. The maintenance guidelines also include the obligatory grinding and renewal of the floor covering once every five years. Otherwise, the protective layer becomes thinner, and the tree darkens. In difficult situations, even scraping does not save. And this leads to the need for a complete replacement of the floor;
- Oiled parquet. It is better to take care of such a floor covering daily. In this case, a vacuum cleaner should be used. Wet cleaning is also needed. In its implementation, specialized or folk remedies for washing floors are used. Renewing the protective layer is required approximately once every six months. However, with all that, there is no need for too frequent preliminary grinding.
A separate variety is laminated parquet. At home, it is cleaned with profile sprays or dry cleaning. A steam cleaner is definitely not suitable for such purposes.
Weekly parquet maintenance
When working with oil parquet, dry cleaning should be used. Moreover, it is important to use specialized products for parquet boards. In the presence of contamination, but not strong and not pronounced, wipe the surface with a clean, slightly damp cloth. With the right approach to the procedure, the parquet should dry in 1-2 minutes.
If you take into account its appearance when caring for parquet and follow certain rules, then the material will delight its owner with attractiveness and durability for a very long time. In a situation with difficult stains, you need to use specialized cleaners that contain a solvent.Thus, you need to soak a soft cloth with the product. She needs to wipe the traces of dirt, and after a couple of minutes, remove the remnants with another clean cloth. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated several times.
Even after the disappearance of the stain, one must not forget about prevention. Rags made of cotton fabric must be soaked in oil and walked with a rag over the bare covering, moving first perpendicularly, and then parallel to the parquet fibers. Unabsorbed oil must be removed with a dry cloth and the flooring polished. The area after treatment can dry up to twelve hours. It is better to take care in advance that no one walks on the floor during this time.
