The basis of the built-up roofing materials is a non-woven canvas impregnated on both sides with bitumen or bitumen-polymer. The second option is more effective, as it provides maximum sealing and durability of coatings. Buy built-up roofing and others offers the online store "AlexStroy".
Material structure
The front layer of bitumen is sprinkled with stone chips, which play the role of protecting the roofing material from the negative effects of sunlight. The bottom layer ensures that the sheets are fixed to the base, but for this it is preheated and melted. Softened bitumen has good adhesion to concrete screed and other substrates.
The deposited layer of the sheets is covered with a polymer film that protects the material during transportation and acts as a heating indicator. As soon as the film completely disappears under the influence of high temperature, the canvas is ready for use. The only thing left for workers to do is to properly spread it and press it to the surface.
Varieties of roll-on welded roofs by quality
Surfaced roofing materials are sold in rolls. According to durability and quality, these products are divided into five categories.
- Sub-economy - such coverage will last no more than 5 years.
- Economy performs its function for up to 10 years.
- Built-up roofs of the Standard class cope with the task for 15 years.
- Business class canvases can withstand up to 25 years.
- Premium roofing flawlessly serves up to 30 years.
Features of insulation of the built-up roof
Welded sheets are laid on flat and pitched roofs. The angle of inclination of the latter should not exceed 45 °. The bases are carefully prepared beforehand: they are cleaned of unstable fragments, dirt and dust, primed, and a screed is poured on flat surfaces. The presence of a screed does not depend on whether the roof is insulated or cold. This layer is always done.
For insulation, insulators with a strength of 0.15 MPa are used. Such plates and mats under the pressure of roofing materials lose only up to 10% of their original thickness. They are ideal for built-up roofs. With two-layer insulation, the insulation sheets are laid in a checkerboard pattern with an overlap of about half the width. In this case, the load is distributed evenly, and the seams between the sheets of thermal insulation are covered with a built-up roof.
