How to choose inexpensive interior doors

When thinking about changing interior doors, many people think about the differences between models of different price categories. The price of budget options varies from a few hundred to a couple of thousand rubles. In order not to have to risk quality for the sake of savings, it is worth understanding the varieties of goods on the market.

Rules for choosing a cheap interior door

Unlike full-bodied expensive models, inexpensive doors are made on a frame filled with pressed cardboard or other honeycomb filler. But in addition to the low cost, this type of door has many other advantages:

  1. "Hollow" doors are lighter;
  2. They are strong enough to last for many years without losing their appearance;
  3. Economy options are resistant to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. They can be safely installed in any room, even in the toilet or bathroom;
  4. Cheap doors are presented in a wide range, both in different colors, and in ways of opening and external modifications.

Door types

Veneered doors are one of the most popular options. Unlike elite doors, wood is present here in smaller quantities. But due to the top wooden plate, such an instance can look no worse than an expensive alternative from an array. For veneering, it is also possible to use high-quality and beautiful wood, including wenge, oak, cherry and ash. Even a thin layer of such material allows you to convey all the visual and textural properties of a real array. To the touch, such a door will not differ from entirely made of natural wood.

Another type of veneer is reconstructed (aka fine-line). This type of material allows you to combine different types of raw materials, thereby creating an imitation of valuable wood species. A door leaf with such a coating will have a spectacular texture. Eco-veneer is also gaining popularity. If the usual varieties of such doors are made on the basis of natural wood, here they are based on fibers fastened with glue. Thanks to this, the material is highly resistant to moisture and abrasion. Visually, such doors do not differ from simple veneer, but they are much cheaper.

Laminate coated doors are no less reliable in everyday use. Their outer layer is made of artificial film. You can choose a monophonic version or imitation of wood of the desired shade. Such a door will be smooth to the touch. The advantages of laminate are resistance to abrasion and scratches and ease of maintenance.

Note! Unlike veneered options, a laminated door will not fade in the sun.

In small apartments, to save space, you can abandon the doors in favor of figured arches. Sliding or multi-leaf options will also look original. The latter are usually equipped with a special mechanism that places the door leaves along the wall. Such models can look very impressive. But they are suitable only for rooms that do not need strong sound insulation. In other cases, it is better to stay on an ordinary classic door.
