The style under the interesting name Art Deco (or as it is also called art deco) literally translated from the French language means “decorative art”. It represents a certain direction in the field of architecture, design and fine arts, which was formed in the post-war period (talking about the First World War). If we consider the interior, then classicism and modernism are taken as the basis of this style. Specific features are borrowed from Egyptian, French and Mediterranean cultures. Any style is assembled from details and trifles. Art Deco is no exception. An important role is played not only by the form that objects possess, but also by texture, ornament, and materials.
Choice of furniture and finishes
Nowadays, the consumer is provided with a huge selection of materials and pieces of furniture for decoration. You can use the following materials:
- metal;
- ceramics;
- expensive varieties of wood;
- glass;
- velvet;
- Genuine Leather;
- atlas.
The best option for the floor is wood. But you can also use porcelain stoneware. Only it should be made in strict colors and have an inconspicuous pattern. The same principle must be followed when choosing shelves, a coffee table, a bar counter, and so on.
Design and decor
At the very beginning, you need to solve the issue with the color scheme. To get an Art Deco living room, neutral shades such as blue, gray, white, cream are usually preferred. Important! Do not forget that the color of the furniture elements should be combined with each other. It is better not to use bright colors in the design at all. A mandatory component of the Art Decor style is luxury and wealth. The entire room space can be conditionally divided into zones using screens, decorative walls or partitions.
If possible, use paintings, sculptures, and other art to decorate the living room. Please note that in this case we are talking about originals, not copies. Well fit into the interior of the canvas with abstraction. You can find interesting suitable items at various auctions. For example, turntables, floor lamps, vases and so on. An artificial fireplace will serve as a wonderful addition to the living room.
Exotic leather (eel, stingray, shark)
With the spread of the Art Deco style, the so-called galushka became popular - the skin of stingrays and sharks. As you know, imitation of crocodile skin is often used in furniture. But they do not make copies of fish skin, but use an exclusively natural product.It is easily recognizable: the upholstery looks like a lot of thin ribbons connected to each other. Such leather is used not only for the manufacture of upholstered furniture, but also for desks, for example. She covers the tabletop and legs. This chair can be purchased here.
Popular motifs
The image of the rays of the rising sun can be traced everywhere: from the backs of chairs to radios. Very often a mirror is used as a "solar" element. However, if you wish, you can find something more original. For example, here is a ceiling element.
