Moisture resistant corrugated cardboard: how is it produced and where is it used?

The importance of packaging () for the industry is difficult to overestimate. It is used to store and transport various items, acting as an important link in the chain between producers and consumers.

Corrugated cardboard has proven itself well - an inexpensive, durable and resistant material to external influences. It withstands contact with moisture and ultraviolet radiation, is not afraid of mechanical stress. At the same time, it is absolutely environmentally friendly and can be recycled for further use.

Moisture-resistant corrugated cardboard is superior to conventional analogues in a number of parameters:

  • practically does not pass air;
  • has increased strength;
  • able to withstand exposure to high temperatures;
  • has good rigidity;
  • not afraid of extremely low temperatures;
  • resistant to moisture/condensation.

Material Application

Due to its properties, corrugated packaging () has found application in various industries:

  • in light - it is actively used by shoe factories, manufacturers of paper, textiles and other goods;
  • in the automotive industry, it is used for packing parts, it is especially in demand for placing components in a lubricant;
  • in mechanical engineering - used for warehouse storage of machine tools, prevents leakage of lubricants;
  • in food - acts as a container for fruits and vegetables, frozen and confectionery products;
  • in the production of electronics and equipment - devices and equipment are afraid of moisture, and corrugated packaging reliably protects them

Production of moisture-resistant corrugated cardboard: technology features

The principle of manufacturing the material does not differ from its conventional counterparts: liners (flat layers) are connected to corrugated paper. The difference is in the composition of cellulose. In addition to the usual components, special substances are added to it - usually these are special paraffins.

Moisture resistance is also achieved by laminating the outer layers. Sometimes manufacturers combine technologies, achieving maximum moisture protection.

Classification of moisture resistant corrugated board

The material varies by class. Each has a purpose:

  • "A" - used to solve technical problems;
  • "DB" - used for storage / transportation of electrical appliances and steel products;
  • "DG" - created to accommodate household items, shoes, textiles, printing, etc.

The material is not subject to mandatory certification.But if the products are tested for compliance with GOST, then they get an advantage in the eyes of consumers.
