Composite tiles - a worthy alternative to natural tiles

Ceramic tiles are a luxurious and durable roofing material, but its cost is too high. It has no less impressive advantages, which can be much cheaper, while it outwardly practically does not differ from natural material.

Structure and composition

Composite tiles consist of a sheet of steel with a thickness of 0.45 or 0.5 mm. Aluzinc is applied on top, which protects the material from corrosion and prolongs its service life. The next layer is an acrylic based primer. It prevents cracking and provides excellent adhesion. All layers are applied on both sides of the material.

The front side is processed separately. To do this, stone chips from ground basalt, granite, jade are laid on the surface.Due to the coating of the front surface with granulate, reliable protection against UV rays is provided and the sound insulation ability is increased. To keep the crumb securely, acrylic glaze is applied to the surface.

Advantages and disadvantages

Composite tile has a number of advantages, among which are the following:

  • High strength - the material can withstand severe wind loads and not deform from accidental hitting of heavy objects on the roof.
  • Convenience and ease of installation. You can buy composite tiles in standard length - 1.4 meters. With such dimensions, the amount of waste is minimal, and installation does not require the use of special equipment and the involvement of a large number of workers.
  • Resistance to UV rays - provided by a multi-layer coating of the surface with various compositions.
  • Long operating period. Manufacturer's warranty from 35 to 50 years.
  • Rich color palette. You can choose a roof covering both in a classic design, close in color to natural tiles, and in an original design.
  • Good flexibility. Due to this property, various adjustments to the roof bends can be made during the installation process.
  • Fire resistance. Steel and stone chips are not amenable to combustion, and the polymers included in the composition resist the flame.
