Once upon a time, the columns carried a mystical meaning. The ancient Egyptians and Indians assigned totem significance to these structures. In our modern world, these elements of architecture are more of a decorative function. They are used in the interior to give the room grandeur, pomposity, luxury, and also to reflect the Empire style.
Expressiveness through wooden beams
In this case, the wooden beams in this project are used as decoration. However, it is worth paying attention to the history of their appearance. An interesting idea of the designer to use logs to decorate the wall behind the sofa ran into an obstacle: it was difficult to find a quality product at a price that would suit.By chance, everything turned out well: a friend found out about the problem and offered to use the logs left over from the old dismantled house and lying idle on his site. So the wooden columns ended up in the interior and brought some kind of eco-motif to it.
Paired columns

Functions performed by columns
Columns are a multifunctional element of the interior. Their purpose may differ depending on the wishes of the owner of the premises. The most important function of columns is to provide support, to serve as a support. This is very important in projects in which you want to get a lot of open space at the output. Because of this, it is necessary to abandon the load-bearing walls. Recently, another function is gaining popularity - decorative. So, the columns perfectly focus on certain details, which means they can refresh the interior, visually expand the space, and also hide unwanted elements (for example, wires).

Accordingly, the elements of architecture must be arranged in pairs. If we talk about styles such as Provence and country, then columns made of wood (for example, from a raw trunk or timber) would be appropriate.
