Lighting design is not a simple science! To learn how to literally control natural and artificial light, you must have not only innate talent, but also great patience. To choose the right design for your living room, you can use the services of a lighting design specialist, or you can try to create it yourself. Then it will be possible to play with the light enough, having tried many options right “on the spot”.
The Art of Light Control
Literally until the beginning of the 20th century, most people had only two sources of light - the sun and fire. During the day, everyone was content with only daylight, and in the evening and at night they kindled fireplaces, lit candles and, nevertheless, had a great time. Today, however, the situation has changed radically.
Now we cannot even imagine how it is possible to live without electricity and bright lights. A couple of candles and gloomy twilight make you sad and melancholy, and the light coming from one 60 W lamp creates a depressive mood. In order for the design of the room to please the eye not only in the daytime, but also when only the moon shines outside the window, you should resort to the art of lighting design.
Lighting types
If today you go to any store of lamps and fixtures, you can simply get lost in their huge selection: luxurious, stylish and literally sparkling chandeliers beckon with their beauty. But all these elegant lighting elements can be divided into only 3 groups:
- lighting fixtures intended for main lighting;
- lighting fixtures designed for accent lighting;
- and lighting fixtures designed for local lighting.
If the task is to equally fill the room with light, then it is better to choose those devices that are designed for basic lighting (central chandeliers, mini-lamps around the perimeter). If the lighting designer is faced with the task of creating a stylish design and emphasizing small accessories located in the room, then one should choose those lighting devices that will give spotlight in a given place (mini-lamps illuminating figurines, vases, or the corners of the room).
For the needs of local lighting, when you want to most brightly illuminate one of the areas in the room (study or work), you should choose devices such as table lamps, floor lamps, or sconces. If the natural light that enters the room during the daytime is not enough, then in addition to additional artificial light, you should resort to the use of bright colors in the design.They will reflect sunlight, filling the room with warmth and comfort, and the brightness of colors will give a good mood.
Light fixtures
In order to set the luminous flux as efficiently as possible, and without violating the design composition, the modern lighting market allows you to purchase the necessary item from numerous variations of chandeliers, lamps, sconces, floor lamps, lamps, spotlights, spotlights, and pendant mini-lamps. Each of these elements can help recreate any design idea and brightly illuminate any room!
