How to choose the right fan for the summer heat

The advent of air conditioners has significantly pushed fans on the market and many can no longer imagine life without these cooling devices. However, the manufacturers of the latter do not lag behind life and come up with more and more modern models, the main advantage of which is cheapness. Obviously, even the most "fancy" fan will be cheaper than a simple air conditioner. Let's figure out what types of fans exist, and why you should still buy such a device.

Fan types

There are three main types of fans. They are divided according to the installation method and have different power. The first option is the smallest, with low performance - this is a desktop fan. It is compact, lightweight, and designed to be installed on any horizontal surface.Well suited for small rooms or local areas, for example, it can be successfully used at the desktop, even in a large office. Mostly the radius of rotation of such a device is 90 degrees.

The second option is a floor fan. Its features are: medium power, achieved by large blades and an adjustable high foot, which allows you to adjust the air jet at the desired level. This is the most common type of fan in everyday life, as it does a good job of cooling a medium-sized room. The standard design provides for two modes - the blade wheel also rotates around its axis by 90 degrees, or it blows only in a given direction.

Finally, the third option is a ceiling fan. It has the largest blades, it is attached to the ceiling and nothing else, except for the rotation speed, is not regulated. At the same time, it has a lot of power, so it is able to cope with large halls. For this reason, such a device has become the most common in bars, industrial premises, retail outlets.

Fan design

A standard household fan consists of several parts. When buying, you should pay attention to each of them:

  • The base must be strong, you should immediately check its stability. Floor fans are usually located in the middle of the room, so pets, children, and even adults can hit it. So that the fan does not fall and crash after the first such incident, it must be quite weighty and reliable.
  • Stand. Now there are two types of stands - monoblock or cross. The former is considered more stable, but the cross is more common, as it has been on the market for a long time and people are used to this appearance of fans.
  • The leg must be equipped with a height adjuster.
  • Screw - must be securely fastened. It is worth choosing devices that can blow both at one point and rotate around its axis, blowing the entire room.
  • The grate is the protection of the blades. It must be sufficiently reliable, as you can accidentally wave your hand and get injured, the severity of which depends on the power of the fan.

Parents of small children should especially pay attention to the safety of the fan. Once under the blade, they can even break a limb, so in this case it is better to choose a double grid, one layer of which will be with large cells, and the other with small ones.
