When a specialist hears the phrase “European-style renovation”, he immediately understands that this is not about some kind of design, but about a professional type of repair work, during which only modern materials and equipment are used. In other words, European-quality repair is a repair of a high degree of quality, or, as they say, European quality.
How did the "European renovation" come about?
For the majority of residents of developed countries of the far abroad, such as America, this phrase only speaks of the high level of professionalism involved in the repair process. All other nuances of construction and repair work are determined by the design chosen in advance. However, in Russia, just like in the neighboring countries, the concept of "European-style renovation" has acquired a completely different meaning.
It has become a kind of new type of design used throughout the territory of the former USSR. First of all, this is due to the destruction of the borders separating the country from the whole world, and in particular from Europe, when the influx of new products and their diversity forced them to change outdated wallpapers for decorative plaster, and herringbone parquet for carpet.
Renovation as design
Today, renovation, as a separate type of design, is a thing of the past. Instead, apartment owners resort to classic style, art deco, art nouveau, loft and even minimalism. The main features that characterize this type of design are:
- the use of tiles, porcelain stoneware or natural stone;
- replacement of parquet boards with laminate;
- replacement of any wooden elements with plastic (for example, skirting boards);
- false ceiling installation with small ceiling lights.
All of the above features, which are part of the euro-style renovation, must be present in the interior at the same time. Otherwise, they will “turn” into the usual nuances of the interior, providing comfort and convenience.
Relevance of renovation
Many features of this type of repair can be found in any design project. It can be a separate light structure located under the ceiling in an apartment furnished in a loft style (unfinished space), or it can be a laminate floor in an apartment furnished in a classic “soft” style. But the full use of European-style renovation, as a separate type of design, is a thing of the past. After all, what once seemed new and beautiful quickly acquired a low-key look and made many think about the safety of the materials used.
For example, wall decoration with plastic panels. Today, natural materials such as wood are becoming more and more relevant in the design of houses and apartments. It brings urban residents closer to nature, freedom, gives a feeling of comfort and peace. And the calm shade of the tree pacifies much more than the bright plastic panels. In this regard, it becomes obvious that such a “new and modern” renovation is no longer in demand among all those who have decided to change their housing.
