What will the windows look like? One of the most important questions in the arrangement of the room. Curtains and tulle make the interior cozy, and the room itself more residential and pleasant. In addition, they perform quite practical functions. Often at the initial stage it is quite difficult to decide which option is best, so let's deal with the varieties of tulle and its design options.
What is tulle and what is it like?
Initially, all weightless and transparent fabrics were called tulle. To date, in design, this word refers to the following characteristics of the material:
- Lightness, even weightlessness;
- Such a fabric will be transparent or almost transparent;
- The threads here are widely intertwined, the density is minimal;
- The possibility of drapery - such a fabric can be formed at will.
Natural materials of this type are silk or cotton fabrics. In addition, there are also artificial options, which include a veil, muslin or organza. The main practical indicator in this case is the density of the weave of the threads, the larger it is, the denser the tulle will be and better protect it from the sun.
What fabric is best for tulle?
In order to properly decorate the window, you should first choose curtains, and only then turn your attention to tulle. Heavy curtains usually act as the main color accent, which is why they are bought first - light fabrics are just an addition, a finishing touch. There are two rules for this. Firstly, you should not combine artificial and natural materials - it will turn out badly and there will be no harmony, comfort. Secondly, do not get carried away with textures and choose too different fabrics - this will also look ridiculous and wild.
For example, loose fabrics such as linen look terrible in combination with satin or velvet. The first choice of tulle is only in cases where this is the only thing that will cover the window. Usually patterned or mesh materials look good in this case. They are self-contained enough in terms of design and dense enough to protect from the sun. This is especially good for dark rooms, far from the sunny side.
Fabric choice
It is important to choose the material for tulle based on not only aesthetic considerations. It is necessary to pay attention to the practical part and, first of all, determine the amount of light in the room.In addition, if the side is sunny, then synthetic bright fabrics will fade strongly and quickly lose their original appearance. Also, natural cotton, which does not tolerate direct rays, will quickly lose its beauty.
The most practical option for frequent washes would be polyester or cotton blend. From artificial materials it is better to prefer viscose. They will survive frequent “immersions” in the machine at 30-40 degrees. At the same time, it is desirable that they be without lining. But velvet or linen can only be cleaned “dry”, as moisture destroys such a fabric. Especially bad wet washing affects the shades of such materials.
