This is usually a fairly simple question, especially if you buy a device in a large store with experienced consultants. The dimensions of the hoods for the kitchen are standardized and you won’t have to choose a lot. At the same time, as in any other business, it is worth studying a few nuances before purchasing.
Does the width of the dome need to match the size of the slab?
The main parameter when choosing a hood will be the width. It is on this value that it depends on how well the device will cope with smoke, grease, burning and other kitchen troubles. There is a fairly simple rule here: the width must either equal or exceed the dimensions of the slab. The dependence is obvious - a small hood will simply not be able to cover the entire volume of the stove, and a significant part of the pollution will fall on the walls, kitchen utensils and the ceiling.
At the same time, it should be proportional to the stove - there is no need to buy a huge unit that will simply "drive" excess air and "eat" electricity. In cases where the hood is first purchased, its size should correspond to the empty space between the cabinets reserved for the stove. Good options would be 60, 80 or 90 cm wide hoods.
There are the following models of hoods:
- 30 cm;
- 45 cm;
- 50 cm;
- 60 cm - a common option for small kitchens, but is suitable for a standard stove with 4 burners;
- 80 cm - often used, more efficient for a standard plate;
- 90 cm - relevant for large kitchens, ideal for a standard stove;
- 100 cm - is considered a professional option;
- 120 cm - bought only for kitchens in restaurants and cafes.
It should be noted that hoods of 60-90 cm are the most common on the market. All other options will have to look well in professional stores.
How should the dimensions of electric stoves and hoods fit?
Plates also have their own dimensions. Optimal for a small kitchen will be a size of 50-60 centimeters. In this case, it is worth worrying about the installation of the device in advance. It should exactly fit into the allotted space, and with some margin of space - this will facilitate installation. If the hood is built-in, it is necessary to adjust its size to the size of the cabinet itself. After that, you should pay attention to the depth and height of the device. The first indicator also fluctuates between 30-120 centimeters. It is very desirable that the depth coincides with the size of the slab itself and covers its entire area.
It happens, when installing, that the height of the device may exceed the intended figure in the wall cabinet, however, it is unacceptable that the hood is located closer to the hob - this distance is strictly regulated and is 65-75 centimeters, depending on the type of stove - more on gas, on electric maybe a little less. If the hood began to change color and it is not washed off, then this gap is insufficient and the high temperature has a negative effect on the device itself.
