You have purchased a new home, made repairs in an existing one, or simply decided to change the situation in the apartment, then the main question in such a decision is how to use the space as efficiently as possible, so that it is comfortable, beautiful and original, and some people also focus on the recommendations of the Taoist feng shui teachings.
Consider the main features of furniture placement
Before starting the arrangement of furniture in the room, it is advisable to first draw a plan with the arrangement. This will help, without unnecessary labor, without moving the furniture, to choose the optimal placement. For a drawing, a paper version or an electronic one, such as AutoCAD or Solidworks, is suitable.It is considered classic options for arranging furniture in the living room:
- symmetrical;
- asymmetrically;
- in a circular position.

Rule #1
It is not recommended to use an elongated wall for arranging furniture. In Soviet times, there was a stereotype of furniture arrangement, when a set of furniture was placed in a rectangular room along one wall length - a wall consisting of a sideboard, bookcases and linen cabinets with a TV niche - on one side. And on the opposite side there are two armchairs and a coffee table between them. Of course, this was not a consequence of the lack of design art, but rather a limited choice of furniture, but this introduced a disproportion into the room, making it narrow and long.

As an alternative, you can put some of the cabinets on the short side opposite the window, leaving the cabinet with the TV on the long side, and opposite all the same chairs with a table. Rule number 2 - do not arrange furniture in the corners
Often, the owners try to arrange sofas and armchairs in the corner, which constrains the dimensions of the living room. Try to push the sofa from the corner to the middle of the room, setting it with its back to the wall, and organize a work area with a desk in the corners. This option will be both functional and original.
Rule #3 - use asymmetry
As a rule, living rooms are rectangular rooms and the arrangement of furniture in them symmetrically only emphasizes and highlights such geometry. Asymmetry will introduce a visual illusion, in which the room will not seem rectangular. This effect will help to achieve the arrangement of the cabinet and the sideboard in opposite corners, the use of upholstered furniture of the corner design.
