In any interior, shelves will not become a hindrance, but, on the contrary, they can be useful. After all, with their help, the house will be in order. Usually, shelves are installed most often in the kitchen or in the pantry. But this does not mean that they will not be needed in other rooms.
Types of wall shelves
Wall shelves are a primitive part of the decor of the room. Their disadvantage is that they cannot fold clothes, home textiles or dishes. It will look out of place. However, chests of drawers and cabinets were invented for this. The shelves themselves are elegant and light. Due to the fact that they are placed on the walls, they are different in shape and type:
- rectangular or square;
- straight;
- round or round;
- solid;
- winding;
- multi-level;
- single-level;
- perforated.
Depending on the material, the shelves are plastic, metal, glass, wood and stone.
empty shelves
Sometimes emptiness makes the interior more attractive. An open shelving will look very interesting. Leaving an empty space in it, it will be possible to add air and dynamics to the interior. Another advantage of free shelving is that it will help the already delivered accessories to separate from each other and not look gaudy. If there is not a lot of free space and you cannot leave the shelves empty, try diversifying the shelves by combining them with doors or drawers. For example, IKEA shelving often includes insert boxes and removable doors.
When arranging accessories, remember symmetry
The “mirror principle” is considered one of the easiest options to make a shelf stylish. According to this principle, the sides of the shelf are symmetrical. In order not to spoil the interior with objects that are on the shelves, it is necessary to place objects of the same shape and color on two and one-level shelves. Or very similar. To do this, you can take paired vases, boxes, baskets or candles.
Putting the books right
To make the books on the shelves look stylish and spectacular, you need to put them with their spines towards the wall of the rack. This will add zest to the interior of the room. However, this option is not suitable for all people. For example, if the tenants are allergic to dust, you should not arrange the books in this way. After all, it is much easier to dust the spines of books. Also, this option is not suitable for those who often read.To select a particular book, you will have to get each one to find the one you need. After all, if the books will stand with their spines against the wall of the rack, their name will be hidden.
Use the facade of the rack in the decor
We usually see framed family photos on shelves, but we've never tried hanging them on the front of a shelving unit. It looks very stylish. Shelves behind photographs should be minimally filled or completely empty. If you leave a few items on the shelves, you need to make sure that the photos will not interfere and the items behind them can be easily reached.
