3D panels in modern interiors are successfully used in combination with other decor items, creating unique interiors. But such elements can look both original and inappropriate - it all depends on the location, size and other factors that must be taken into account in the design.
What are 3D panels
Such panels are materials for finishing surfaces of walls or ceilings, but unlike conventional wallpaper or tiles, they have a number of features:
- The panels are decorated in a special way, and a pattern or ornament can be applied to them using a special technology, creating the illusion of three-dimensionality.
- Products are made of drywall, on which such patterns look more voluminous, and the material itself is more resistant to damage than paper or plastic coating.
- Such panels are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and safe for health.
3D panels are a durable material not only because of their high performance. The panels do not have to be changed if you are planning to make a major overhaul and radically change the design. In this case, you can simply repaint the panels or apply other images to them, and this material will last for many more years.
Use in interior solutions
In interior design, 3D panels can be used to decorate straight walls without architectural frills, or they can be used to decorate niches and ledges on walls or ceilings. Panels can decorate openings and niches in which TV equipment or fireplaces are installed. Often columns are framed with such material, and the configuration of these architectural elements does not matter. They can be rounded or have a complex shape - in all cases, the panels can be mounted so that they fit snugly around the column and over time will not lag behind, trying to return to the original straight shape.
Material Advantages
The advantages of using such panels primarily include the ability to create an expressive design with a three-dimensional effect without spending a lot of money on repairs. At the same time, panels can have any color and shade, and drawings taken from the standard collections of the manufacturer or applied according to unique sketches of the customer can be used as decor (but in this case, the cost of the panels can increase significantly).
Panels can be matte or glossy. In the second case, the effect of three-dimensionality is more pronounced, and with the correct arrangement of 3D panels, you can even achieve a visual increase in the area of the room. With the right approach, such material can be used in any interior solutions - from classic to avant-garde.
Flaws
If it is illiterate to use panels in the interior, they may not expand, but narrow the room. This applies mainly to material with a three-dimensional structure and a complex pattern. Such elements "overload" the visual range, and in general they are suitable for use in large spaces and for decorating straight walls. Another disadvantage is the need for careful maintenance of panels with a complex texture. Dust constantly accumulates in the relief of the material, which must be cleaned regularly, and inexpensive low-quality panels cannot be washed, rubbed intensively during cleaning, and harsh detergents should be used for this.
