Lacquered furniture is often used for home furnishing. But it is very difficult to care for the coating: simple household cleaners cannot be used, as they can ruin the varnish and damage the furniture itself. Also, do not use hard brushes and sponges. What to do in this case? Let's consider further.
The main characteristics of lacquered furniture.
Gloss is relevant in the interior. That is why varnish is used to create a similar effect. To do this, cabinet furniture is cleaned with sandpaper or other material, and then varnished. After that, the surface must be polished with special means. Due to the creation of gloss, brilliance, furniture becomes visually more expensive, and the interior becomes neater and more expressive.
But there are some negative aspects of such furniture:
- Even small dust is strongly visible on the coating;
- Dirt such a coating strongly "attracts";
- Resistance to mechanical stress is low, since even a slight blow can leave small chips and cracks.
But in order to “remove” these negative qualities, the right care tips will help you.
Basic rules of care
So that the varnish coating is clean and tidy, you should not use soap-based formulations. In order to remove small stains and dust, you can use water and ammonia. You need to dilute in a ratio of 6 to 1. Water stains also often form on lacquered furniture. The easiest cleaning option is to use vegetable oil. It needs to be heated a little, and then add wax to it. As soon as it is completely dissolved, you need to apply the composition to the furniture coating. For application, use a fabric made from natural materials. For example, linen.
You can use such compositions - the use of automotive oil and flour (it is best to use sifted); perfume and vegetable oil (the amount should be the same). You can use turpentine, it is mixed with vegetable oil and mixed well. The ratio is 1 to 2. After the composition is ready, we apply it on lacquered furniture using a woolen material. After that, we rub it with a simple dry or damp cloth.
Beeswax is another great cleanser. It allows not only to clean the coating, but also to create protection against moisture and mechanical influences. If acrylic varnish was used for furniture, then it is easy to clean the coating. You can use alcohol, glass cleaner.Ammonia is often used (it must be diluted with water). If the stains are greasy, then you can wipe the surface with kerosene or turpentine. Water stains can be removed in the following ways:
- Rub the surface with wheat flour. After that, treat with automotive oil;
- Add wax to warm vegetable oil and melt it. Then apply the composition to the lacquer coating.
Lacquered furniture is always beautiful, it is suitable for any interior. But only proper care will help maintain the aesthetic appearance and quality.
