How to take care of your cutting board

Every day, a lot of tests fall to the share of a simple cutting board. Housewives soak this board in hot water, clean it with sponges, and always scratch it with a knife. But how should she be looked after and is it necessary at all? In this article, you will learn how to properly care for cutting boards.

Wooden cutting boards

These boards are especially in demand among housewives. They are cute looking, can also be used as a decorative item and are the most suitable for blades. Wood is a soft material into which the blade enters freely. Rinse this product in cool water immediately after use and leave to dry.Don't forget to lay it on a horizontal surface so it doesn't change shape. In no case do you need to soak the product, but to get rid of dirt, rub it with salt and soda, and then walk over it with a sponge dipped in lemon juice. We recommend oiling the wooden board at least once every 12 months. The cleanest housewives do this once a month.

Bamboo cutting boards

In general, they are very similar to ordinary wood boards. However, the first option is considered more environmentally friendly. Bamboo also has antimicrobial properties. However, there is one drawback - it is rude to the blades. A huge advantage of such boards is that they are resistant to staining and can retain their shade for a long time. Such a board must be washed with soapy water and in no case should it be soaked. Since bamboo boards are held on by water-soluble glue, they cannot be soaked, as they may fall apart.

These do not need special care, they only need regular washing, however, such boards need to be changed more often - after 12 months they will begin to turn yellow, and there will also be many scratches and stains on them.

Glass, marble and slate cutting boards

These boards are the most practical options. They won't stain or scratch. They are also very easy to care for, but for knives they are as harmful as possible. Wash such products by hand with soapy water, and then do not forget to disinfect. They do not have antibacterial properties.

You can prepare a disinfectant solution yourself: mix: vinegar with plain water. Spray your board with this solution and wipe with a dry sponge. As you can see, caring for cutting boards is easy. Follow the tips above and you'll be fine!
